Monday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League

There was just one game in the Ryman League Premier Division on Monday night and it was the derby between Billericay Town and Canvey Island at New Lodge, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Neither side came into the game in great shakes, both having been beaten on Saturday – Billericay at home by Wingate & Finchley and the Gulls at one of the promotion favourites Margate.

Billericay started the better and certainly had the edge in a goalless first 45 minutes. But the second period saw Canvey come more into the game and with 11 minutes remaining they made the breakthrough, former Billericay player Harrison Chatting meeting Joe Carter`s cross on the edge of the area to fire past Billy Lumley.

Billericay forced the visitors back as they looked for an equaliser but the Gulls held firm for a the points.
