Monday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Maidstone United are twelve points clear at the top of the Ryman League's Premier Division table following Monday night`s 3-1 win at New Lodge against Billericay Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Hendon moved into second spot, with two games in hand over the Stones, after they edged out Metropolitan Police 2-1 at Earlsmead.

In front of a crowd of 369, it was Billericay – looking for three points which would take them into top five contention – who took an early ninth minute lead through Harry Baker before Jack Parkinson levelled from Jay May's through ball on 41 minutes.

And the game was virtually won in first half stoppage time when May, who scored both goals in Stones' 2-1 win over Lewes on Saturday, bagged another brace.

In Monday's other fixture, Hendon extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to ten games after a 2-1 win against the faltering Met.

In contrast, the Jim Cooper`s side have now lost four of their last five league matches as their play-off hopes take a dive and they are just a point in front of the chasing pack.

The deadlock was broken right on half-time when Andre Da Costa gave the Greens the lead. And the `home` side doubled their advantage on 66 minutes through Casey MacLaren. The visitors netted a consolation right at the end of the game with substitute Ronayne Marsh-Brown the scorer.
