At the end of the game though, the talk was not of relegation or promotion – but about a double sending-off that led to officials from both sides racing onto the pitch to stop a bit of a brawl between several players.
Over 90 minutes there was a gulf in class between the sides but to their credit, Farnborough worked hard and made it tough for the Rocks, who sometimes didn’t help their cause by overplaying and searching for the perfect pass when other options were available.
Rocks eventually went ahead a minute before the break when Tom Wraight lashed home a stunning free-kick - the young midfielder’s 17th goal of the campaign.

The visitors extended their lead nine minutes after the break with James Walker lobbing a corner back from the far post across goal where Sam Higgins smashed home a close range half volley for his 30th league goal of the season from twenty-seven appearances.
And three minutes later any remaining hope Farnborough, who face a double division drop because of a breach in financial regulations, might have had was snuffed out when Joe Ellul bravely dived to head home from an acute angle.
Monday`s other game saw Hendon secure three points as they moved a healthy sixteen points clear of the drop zone after beating bottom-markers Lewes 2-0 at Earlsmead.
Both goals came in the opening half, with Finbarr Robins opening the scoring in the 37th minute before Casey MacLaren scored his first of the season right on the stroke of half-time.
