More magnificence from Moles and Marlow- whilst Swans triumph in another Cup replay

By Ian Townsend

Hanworth Villa were our other winners, on a night of South Central League and Cup action

Binfield took their winning run to seven matches and their goals tally during that period to twenty two, thrashing Thatcham Town on the road last night. The Kingfishers will perhaps take heart from the fact that they fared no worse than National League South side Tonbridge Angels did on Saturday, but in truth that would be grasping as straws, as the Moles hit another four goals. Johnny Efedje scored for his third match in succession to put them ahead on twenty eight minutes, and within four minutes the lead was doubled, as Liam Tack fired home from the spot. Connor Holland effectively ended the contest four minutes after the break, and on the hour Liam Gavin made it four. Mark Chidi saw red late on for the hosts, just to end a miserable Thatcham night. That’s seven matches without conceding a goal for the Moles.

Marlow remain level on points with Binfield, after winning three-nil at Ashford United. Junaid Bell got them underway on the half hour, whilst an own goal half an hour later and a third from Naheer-Omar Nawaf eight minutes from time made sure of the points. Adam Green saw red for Marlow late on.

Tooting & Mitcham United welcomed Hanworth Villa to Imperials Fields, and the Terrors only terrified their own supporters, as the Villains took all three points and scored three goals. Hanworth are our draw specialists with three draws from five heading into last night’s match, but they easily put another number in the win column.

It took six minutes for Tom Bender to open the scoring, and only two minutes more for Jonathan Hippolyte to make it two. Any slight chance of a home comeback was ended four minutes from time, Sam Merson making it three and confirming his side’s climb to seventh. The Terrors are fourteenth.

Leatherhead and Southall couldn’t manage a goal at Fetcham Grove.

Westfield and Uxbridge both looked to get back to winning ways after Cup defeats on Saturday, but neither managed it, the match ending in a one-one draw. Troy Walters gave the hosts the lead on eighteen minutes, whilst the equaliser arrived just before the hour mark, Victor Osobu with it. Alan Hedley saw red late on for the visitors, but too late for Field to take advantage.
In the Cup, Chatham Town welcomed Walton & Hersham in a replay after coming from two down to draw with the Swans on Saturday. This was the Swans third cup replay of the campaign, and in front of a crowd of nine hundred and eleven they battled through to the Third Qualifying Round with a three-one win. Eddie Simons put them ahead nine minutes before the break, and seven minutes after the restart Jordan Adeyemi’s sixth goal of the season put them in control, only for Reece Butler to quickly reply for the Chats. The home side fought to draw level, but right at the end the Swans made sure, Oliver Twum’s fifth of the season giving them breathing space and sealing their victory.

Chertsey Town’s match with Basingstoke Town has been moved to Friday.
