New management duo at Salamis

By Ian Townsend

New Salamis appoint Tommy Boxer & Finlay Johnson

New Salamis yesterday morning announced that they have filled the vacancy left by long-serving Richard Georgiou with two replacements, as Tommy Boxer and Finlay Johnson are appointed joint managers.

You will perhaps recognise both names, as both have an Isthmian past. Tommy, a centre half, actually made fourteen appearances for Salamis last season. Prior to that he played for the likes of Northwood, Cockfosters, Hoddesdon Town, Hatfield Town, Potters Bar Town, Mildenhall Town, St Neots, Biggleswade Town, St. Ives Town and Chalfont St. Peter.

Finlay, you will perhaps recall, was once manager of Chalfont St Peter. He took over at Saints in May 2019, and his very young side were placed in a very respectable thirteenth place when the 2019-20 Pitching In Isthmian South Central campaign came to a premature end. He decided to depart the club in October 2021, a few months after we featured him for running 5k a day for fifty days during lockdown- to raise money to purchase football boots for children who couldn't afford them.

Prior to his time at the Saints, he was the coach of Hendon Under 23's, who he took to the Middlesex League Title. He was previously the manager at Codicote in the Spartan South Midlands Football League. He has also worked for the likes of Watford, Brentford and Stevenage.
