Precision Golden Gloves Awards

Dulwich Hamlet's Phil Wilson, Needham Market's Shaun Phillips and and Folkestone Invicta's Tim Roberts are all looking forward to picking up their first golden gloves accolades of the season.

After being unveiled as the winners of December's Precision Golden Gloves Awards on Wednesday, the trio will be presented with their ‘safe hands’ honours in the Ryman Premier, Ryman North and Ryman South at upcoming fixtures.

The monthly 'safe hands' awards are sponsored by Nottingham-based Reydon Sports PLC, the UK's largest sports and leisure wholesale and distribution company. Through their Precision Goalkeeping brand, the stoppers will each receive a pair of Precision Goalkeeping gloves provided by ProKit UK, the nominated retailer administering the awards.

As an extra bonus for clubs, the Ryman League announced last Sunday that Precision are now offering them a 30 per cent discount on training aids as the second half of the campaign gets underway in earnest.

When Hamlet's Wilson was out injured earlier in the season, his replacement, teenage keeper Oshane Brown, won October's Precision Golden Gloves Awards in the Ryman Premier with some outstanding displays.

Since being recalled by manager Gavin Rose and returning to duty, former Stevenage Borough, Maidenhead United, Sutton United and Carshalton Athletic stopper Wilson has been in top form too, the 31-year-old winning the final accolade of 2014 for keeping three clean sheets in three wins before Christmas.

Needham Market have one of the meanest defences in the league after conceding just 26 times in 27 outings so far this season thanks to the form of Phillips who wins the Ryman North accolade with an identical record to Wilson, three clean sheets in three victories last month.

Marketmen manager Mark Morsley drafted in former Colchester United stopper Phillips after he was released by the League Two club in the summer and in September he was rewarded with a two year contract at Bloomfields.

Folkestone Invicta keeper Roberts was only beaten twice in five games in the final weeks of 2014 to take the Ryman South Precision Golden Gloves Award.

The 26-year-old arrived at the Fullicks Stadium in September 2013 from Walton & Hersham and made his debut for Invicta in a 4-2 win over his former club a day later.

With the former Chatham Town, Croydon, Erith Town, Sittingbourne and Dulwich Hamlet keeper between the sticks, Neil Cugley's side have conceded only 31 goals in 29 outings this term to stay in the hunt for promotion.

Precision Goalkeeping boast an impressive list of keeping talent on their books including Kasper Schmeichel, Kieren Westwood, Tomasz Kuszczak, Darren Randolph, David Forde, Frank Fielding, Brian Jensen, Robert Olejnik, Andy Lonergan, Ian McLoughlin, Trevor Carson and Republic of Ireland goalkeeping coach and former international Alan Kelly.

Former England manager Graham Taylor is lead ‘brand ambassador’ for the company which was established in 2005 and also has official partnerships with the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Wales.
