Non League Day 2018

By Ian Townsend

Non League day is approaching! What is your club doing?

Saturday 13th October will be Non League Day- a day on which, with the Premier League and Championship taking the weekend off, we have the chance to show many members of the football-watching public what they're missing, and perhaps to persuade them to make visiting our clubs a more regular arrangement. Last year was an enormous success, and included some of the following activities:

  • AFC Sudbury gave under elevens free entry, a stadium tour, a meet and greet with the players and allowed them to be the guard of honour.
  • Billericay Town let everyone in fancy dress in for half price.
  • Burgess Hill Town halved their prices.
  • Corinthian-Casuals hosted a charity crossbar challenge.
  • Dulwich Hamlet had a 'pay what you like' day, and gave the takings to charity.
  • Enfield Town offered a stadium tour, meet and greet and a coaching session to Under 13's.
  • Grays Athletic invited a number of local schools to take part in a penalty shootout
  • Merstham reduced the price for Premier/Championship season ticket holders, and had a barbecue, Beat the Goalie contest, a free raffle and charity karaoke.
  • Tonbridge Angels offered football for a fiver and let accompanied children in for free.

So, what are you doing this year? 13th October is but six short weeks away, and if our clubs email details of their #NLD activities then we can publicise them right here! Email Ian on townsendaround@gmail.com and we'll get your news out into the world during the week running up to the event.

By the way, publicising Non League Day across the country comes at a cost, and the organisers of the day are selling a pin badge- see image above- for £3 plus £1.25 postage and packing to help with funds. If you'd like one, email a different Ian on ibcfc@hotmail.co.uk for more details.
