Not quite a Tuesday Night wash out

By Ian Townsend

We should definitely have matches at Chatham Town and Ashford United this evening, and we might have a match at Badshot Lea and one in Pitching In Isthmian North. Here's the current state of play- or no play

We had rather an extensive collection of matches for you tonight, and we'd written a long preview...but sadly the rain has washed away much of what we had planned. This shortened preview features the games we expect will go ahead, but there may yet be more changes, so please keep checking back!

Velocity Cup

The top two listed Velocity Cup matches tonight are due to be played on a 3G pitch, so we expect them to be fine!

Chatham Town are offering free mince pies and mulled wine to all comers at the Bauvill Stadium this evening, as our Pitching In Isthmian Premier promotion chasers take on another set of promotion chasers, Basildon United, in the Velocity Cup Fourth Round. The Chats will be full of beans (but hopefully not full of mince pies and mulled wine) after Saturday’s fine victory over leaders Hornchurch, whilst the Bees will be hoping to quickly regain their sting- they’ve gone three league matches without a win and were hit for five at leaders Lowestoft Town at the weekend.

South East side Ashford United are back at Homelands, and welcome South Central opponents, Westfield making the rather long trip from Woking. The Nuts and Bolts will be looking for a morale-boosting victory after losing their last three, whilst their visitors are three unbeaten but have drawn their last two.

We’ve an all South Central Velocity battle as Badshot Lea host Chipstead- BUT THERE IS A SCHEDULED PITCH INSPECTION AT 4PM, SO PLEASE CHECK BACK! The Baggies have found themselves rained off since November 28th, a solitary Surrey Cup match their only action in the last three weeks, but were in good form prior to that- particularly on their own patch, where they haven’t lost a league game since August Bank Holiday Monday. They played against the Chips as recently as October 14th, winning four-two.

Chipstead are on a very poor run indeed, having lost their last seven league matches. Perhaps tonight’s match will prove a welcome distraction from those woes, and allow them a boost before their trip to Hanworth Villa on Saturday.

Pitching In Isthmian North

Heybridge Swifts have the chance to climb to third place in the Pitching In Isthmian North table- but they’ll need to win at Redbridge to do so, and the club have explained :

A pitch inspection will take place from 5pm but with the continuous rain we have had today it's not looking good.

Swifts have taken ten points from their last twelve and seem to have got over their defeats against the top two last month, whilst their hosts picked up their first win in six when defeating Witham Town on Saturday. POSTPONED

Bottom side Stowmarket Town go in search of that first win once again, as they welcome the side two places- and eleven points- ahead of them, Enfield. Stow have taken only one point from the last thirty available to them, whilst things haven’t been much better for their visitors, who have managed one win and one draw during the same period. This looks to be a must-win for the hosts, if it isn’t too early in the campaign to use such a description. SO FAR THERE IS NO MENTION OF A PITCH INSPECTION, BUT WE'LL LET YOU KNOW IF THAT CHANGES. Match Postponed.

Each one of our scheduled Pitching In Isthmian South East and South Central matches has been called off.

Billericay Town's FA Trophy trip to Wealdstone has been postponed once more, but the match has been rearranged for tomorrow and moved to Billericay, who have a 3G pitch.
