Oliver strike lifts Faversham

By Peter Butcher

A GOAL from Kieran Oliver seven minutes after half-time proved decisive for Faversham, who climbed to third place in Ryman South tonight (Tuesday) with a 2-1 home win over Burgess Hill.

Jamie Maxted’s early goal for Faversham was answered by Karly Akehurst midway through the first half but it was not enough for Hillians in the end as their play-off challenge suffered a setback.

A first-half double by Ashley Miller, who scored in the seventh and 31st minutes, set Hythe on their way to a 3-1 home win over Corinthian-Casuals.

Jamie Byatt put Casuals back in the picture after 38 minutes and Hythe had to wait until two minutes from time for the clinching goal by Nick Barnes.

The only other game to be played was at Woodside Road, where visiting Walton & Hersham held Worthing to a goalless draw.
