Opening day attendances show big increase

By Ian Townsend

Attendances up by forty-two percent

The figures are in, the numbers have been crunched, and Bostik League statistician Mike Wilson has advised us that our opening day fixtures saw an attendance increase of 42% compared to the first Saturday of 2016/17.

The largest crowd in the Bostik Premier was the 1,131 who saw Billericay Town fall to a late defeat to former manager Craig Edwards and his Kingstonian side. In the North Division it was the 384 who watched AFC Sudbury and Canvey Island play out a draw, whilst in the South Division the highest turnout came in the Channel Islands, as the Green Lions of Guernsey defeated East Grinstead Town.

A total of 9,973 supporters turned out in total. We hope they enjoyed some superb football, were made very welcome, and will be back with their friends next weekend!
