Plum ties for three out of four Ryman sides

FA Cup First Round Draw

Canvey Island, East Thurrock United and Maidstone United are all looking forward to playing Football League sides in the FA Cup after bagging plum ties in Monday night's televised FA Cup First Round Draw on BBC2.

The Ryman League's other flag-waver - Harrow Borough - will fancy their chances of reaching the next round if they can overcome Basingstoke when the sides replay on Tuesday night. In the 7pm draw at the Football Association's St George's Park, the eventual winners were handed a home tie against the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Spennymoor Town.

Canvey Island travel to Conference South Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday in the night's other replay with a home tie against League One giants Preston North End awaiting the winners.

Maidstone United, 2-1 winners over Welling United on Saturday in the Fourth Qualifying Round, were drawn away to League Two Stevenage Borough, famous giant-killers themselves during their Non-League days.

East Thurrock United hammered Bath City 7-1 at the weekend to book their place in the draw. The Rocks were rewarded with an away trip to League Two Hartlepool United and no doubt a mention or two on Sky's Soccer Saturday from host Jeff Stelling who is a passionate fan of the North East club.

The ties will be played over the weekend starting Friday November 7 with the winners collecting £18,000 in prize money from the FA Prize Fund.
