Rams sign National League defender

Maidstone man heads to the coast

Ramsgate last night announced the signing of Maidstone United defender Ryan Johnson.

Johnson, who made twenty eight appearances in National League South last season, reunites with Rams boss Matt Longhurst, who he played for during a period with East Grinstead Town. He made twenty nine appearances for the Wasps during the 2018-19 season, and prior to his time in the South East Division turned out for Maidenhead United, Dartford, Welling and Hythe Town.

Manager Longhurst, speaking to the Rams website, explained:

“I’m very pleased to have signed Ryan. I’ve worked with him several times over a number of years at different clubs. He’s an outstanding footballer, a great character in the dressing room and a good person off the pitch as well.

To be able to bring somebody of his calibre to this football club is a huge coup for us and he’ll certainly enhance our chances for what we want to achieve.”
