Ramsgate given freehold boost

Rams can purchase stadium freehold, council say


Ramsgate yesterday announced that they had been given permission to purchase the freehold of their WW Martin Community Stadium, Thanet Council agreeing to sell.

The Rams have played at the stadium for seventy years, and recently invested a large sum of money in a 3G pitch allowing their ground to become a true community asset. It is now in almost continual use, and helps the progress of more than a thousand youth players.

The club hope to build "a new stand that can become a mixed enterprise and education centre to achieve goals of reducing local unemployment and help increase average salaries."
