Worthing’s Woodside Road is already buzzing this season after a local electronics firm won the top prize in the Ryman South club’s summer sponsorship draw.

Photronix’s logo are now adorning the West Sussex club's first team shirts after they beat 40 other businesses who pledged £250 each to enter the ‘100 Club’ draw. The 100 Club launch took place on July 26 alongside the Lancing pre-season game with many of the other 52 prizes won also worth thousands to local firms.

Alan Millard, the managing director at the new sponsors is a Portsmouth fan and the Rebels' commercial manager Paul Kelleway is delighted that a real football fan had won the chance to sponsor Adam Hinshelwood’s side this season.

Pictured, right, flanking Photronix’s Millard with Hinshelwood, Kelleway said: "Alan Millard of Photronix was delighted to win the first team sponsor prize – his face was beaming for the whole of the second half.

"There is so much potential at Worthing FC. I see it as a sleeping giant. We have a population of over 100,000 people in Worthing, coupled with hundreds of local businesses, so I see no reason why we can’t turn this club into one of the best supported in the Ryman League."

Millard said: "I never thought for one moment that Photronix would win first prize, but what an honour it is to be the official first team sponsor for Worthing FC. Having been a long-suffering Pompey fan, I have seen by the recent events at Portsmouth how important the local football team is to the community.

"When I was asked to become involved with the Worthing FC 100 club, I did not hesitate, as I believe that we can all play our part to support Worthing FC either by sponsorship or attending games."
