Reunion chance prompted move

Former Wealdstone, Camberley Town and Chertsey midfielder Rob Carrick is targeting a Ryman League play-off spot at Hampton & Richmond Borough after being unveiled as their latest signing on Monday.

Joint managers Paul Barry and Darren Powell signed Carrick after he arrived at the Premier Division's Beveree for pre-season training earlier this month and impressed.

Carrick told the South London Press the chance to be reunited with former Camberley Town coach Neil Woodyer was the catalyst for the move.

The midfielder, who started last season at top flight rivals Wealdstone before meeting up with current Beavers coach Woodyer, said: "I thought I could play at this level with Hampton and I knew Woody was coming down here, so I decided to get in touch with him and try and get a go here. So far it's gone pretty well.

"The league is strong but I think for us, the play-offs is a good outside bet. We have a good squad here so I think we can play with the teams in the top half, and personally, I'm looking to nail down a starting spot in the first team."
