Coggeshall Town appoint former Saffron Waldon Town boss Jason Maher

Coggeshall Town have ended their search for a new manager with the appointment of Saffron Walden Town boss Jason Maher.

Jason joined the -as then- Eastern Counties League Division One side as Assistant Manager back in 2013. Promotion to the Premier Division soon followed, and at the end of 2018 he stepped up to become manager. By this point the club had moved over to the Essex Senior League, and they finished that first season in fourth place- and then were a point clear at the top when the pandemic ended the following season prematurely. At the end of last season, as you may recall, his side took on Witham Town in a promotion/relegation play off, Witham triumphing. He leaves the club in mid table, but with as many as five games in hand over the sides above them.

He brings with him Mark Hawkes as Assistant Manager, and Kevin Hunter as coach. The trio will get their first taste of Pitching In Isthmian North action tomorrow, as they take their side to Basildon United.

Where next?

Can the Swans and Field close the gap? Northwood have a four point lead- but their nearest challengers have two games in hand- and we've only two points between second and sixth. It's our Pitching In Isthmian South Central preview.
Lest we forget Pitching In Isthmian League matches will be preceded by a minute of silent reflection this weekend
