Ryman League Premier Division

Margate's lead at the top of the Ryman Premier was reduced to three points after they were held to a 3-3 draw at home by struggling Harrow Borough, while second-placed Maidstone United beat Bognor Regis Town at home, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Margate were forced to come back from being 2-0 down to salvage a point at Hartsdown Park against battling Harrow, who led through Harold Odametey after eight minutes and then Marc Charles-Smith six minutes after half-time.

Terry Brown's side fought back to lead 3-2 with goals from Luke Moore after 58 and 66 minutes and then Jamie Taylor with 11 minutes to go. However, Charles-Smith grabbed a last-gasp equaliser for Boro.

Maidstone were in front after less than three minutes at the Gallagher Stadium against Bognor through Jack Parkinson.

Stuart Green levelled 7 minutes before half-time but Alex Flisher won it for the Stones with 19 minutes remaining.

Third-placed Dulwich Hamlet`s game was off and fifth-placed Leiston were in FA Trophy action, but Hendon in fourth had to be content with a point from a 1-1 home draw with second-bottom VCD Athletic, who finished with ten-men.

But the Vickers had something to hold onto as new signing Mikhail Kennedy had given them an early third minute lead. Leon Smith equalised right on half-time, but the visitors held on, even after Nick Reeves was dismissed for two late yellow cards.

Metropolitan Police moved to within a couple of points off the play-off places after a 2-0 win at inconsistent Tonbridge Angels, Bradley Hudson-Odoi giving the Met a 36th minute lead that Ryan James doubled immediately after half-time.

Bury Town remain rooted to the bottom after losing 1-0 at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium to Enfield Town, for whom Mark Kirby broke the Blues' hearts with a goal in injury-time at the end of the match.

AFC Hornchurch, in third-bottom spot, shared a goalless home draw with mid-table Kingstonian, while Lewes stay just ahead of fourth-bottom Harrow on goal difference after a 2-2 draw at Billericay Town in which they so nearly made it all three points.

Ricky Sappleton gave Ricay a 20th minute lead, but goals from Sam Cole after 30 minutes and Tom Davis six minutes later saw the Rooks lead until stoppage time when Richard Halle netted a penalty for which Dean Lovegrove saw red for the visitors.

Wingate & Finchley could have moved level on points with fifth-placed Leiston had they won at home against East Thurrock United. Instead they were beaten by the odd goal in seven!

Ola Sogbanmu gave the hosts a 12th minute lead that Connor Witherspoon cancelled out 10 minutes later. David Knight restored the home side's lead from the spot on 36 minutes and he added his second and Wingate's third six minutes later, only for Reece Harris to reduce the deficit to just one a minute later.

Lewis Smith equalised midway through the second period and then Sam Higgins` penalty on 76 minutes won it for the Rocks.

Elsewhere, Leatherhead beat Grays Athletic 3-1 at Fetcham Grove with goals from Adam Green after 39 minutes, Paul Semakula on 56 and Kiernan Hughes-Mason on 70 minutes – Freddie Ladapo having reduced the arrears two minutes earlier, while Witham Town edged out visiting Hampton & Richmond Borough by the odd goal in five.

Tom Collins put Hampton in front after 25 minutes, only for recent signing Jamie Guy to give the Essex side parity on the half-hour mark from the penalty spot for which the Beavers` Saheed Sankoh was sent-off.

Guy eventually put Witham ahead 10 minutes after half-time and Kurt Smith made it 3-1 with 16 minutes to go, although Charlie Moone made them sweat when he reduced the deficit three minutes from time.

Canvey Island saw off Peacehaven & Telscombe 2-1 at the Prospects Stadium, coming back from being a 43rd minute Joe Gatting penalty down to win through Harrison Chatting, also from the spot, on 46 minutes and John Easterford with 16 minutes remaining.
