Saturday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

There were just three games in the Ryman Premier on Saturday due to the FA Trophy but two of them saw struggling sides record vital wins, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Farnborough made it four wins from their fifteen matches after beating eighth-placed Wingate & Finchley 2-1 at Cherrywood Road.

Tom Broadbent gave Boro the lead seventh minutes before half-time. Karl Oliyide eventually pulled the visitors back on level terms with 18 minutes remaining only for Bogdan Vastsuk to win it for Spencer Day`s side just six minutes later.

Needham Market are three points ahead of Farnborough in fourth-bottom spot after beating another struggler, Hendon, 2-0 at Earlsmead.

Adam Mills put the Suffolk outfit ahead after 22 minutes. And they doubled that lead 22 minutes later, courtesy of Luke Ingram. Mark Morsley`s side held firm in a second half played in horrendous conditions to record three vital points.

Billericay Town beat Harrow Borough 2-1 in the day`s only other game to move to within a point of the top five spots.

Conor Hubble gave the home side a 31st minute lead at New Lodge. Veteran striker Cliff Akurang added a second seven minutes after the break, with Boro`s consolation coming three minutes from time from Fejiri Okenabirhie.
