Saturday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

A last minute equaliser denied Ryman Premier leaders Dulwich Hamlet victory against fellow title challengers Tonbridge Angels at Longmead on the first day of action of 2016 on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In front of a crowd of 1,095, Dulwich broke the deadlock in the 74th minute when a Damian Scannell corner was headed in by Mitchell Nelson. But with the game entering stoppage time, a short free-kick on the Dulwich right saw a great cross delivered into the box that Nathan Elder flicked home.

There were only four games played on Saturday with Hendon earning a vital 4-3 derby win at Earlsmead to move eight points clear of the drop zone.

In very tricky conditions, Billy Healey gave the visitors an 18th minute lead that Leon Solomon doubled in the 25th minute. But Adam Wallace cancelled that out with a quickfire brace midway through the half.

Dan Brown restored the visitors` lead five minutes after the break but a double from Kezie Ibe in the 64th and 82nd minutes turned the game in the Greens` favour.

Enfield Town moved up to sixth place after a 2-1 Queen Elizabeth II Stadium win over now third-bottom Brentwood Town.

Bobby Devyne put the home side in front after 38 minutes. But Tom Richardson equalised on 64 minutes, and the Essex visitors held on until the very last minute when Claudiu Vilcu popped up with Enfield`s winner.

Fifth-bottom Needham Market suffered a 3-2 Bloomfields defeat to mid-table Canvey Island.

The Gulls had to come back from being 2-0 down with Ian Miller on 15 minutes and Michael Brothers three minutes later putting the home side in control.

Martin Tuohy pulled one back after 33 minutes but the visitors had to wait until 20 minutes from time for Tyrell Miller-Rodney`s equaliser. Lawrence Yiga won it for Canvey seven minutes later.
