Saturday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Dulwich Hamlet remain a point clear at the top of the Ryman Premier following Saturday`s 2-0 win against play-off chasing Enfield Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A crowd of 2,249 at Champion Hill saw defender Mitchell Nelson open Hamlet`s account after 34 minutes. And they confirmed victory when sub Rhys Murrell-Williamson made it 2-0 with nine minutes to go.

Aaron Morgan's second minute opener was wiped out late in the game as second-placed Hampton & Richmond Borough defeated ten-man Kingstonian at the Beveree.

Alan Inns was sent-off for handball on 62 minutes, with Rob Tolfrey saving the resultant penalty. But the Beavers subsequently equalised on 78 minutes through new permanent recruit Nicke Kabamba and then scored two more in the final seven minutes through Kieran Murphy and sub Charlie Moone to condemn the K's to their third consecutive defeat.

Third-placed Tonbridge Angels had to be content with just one point from a 1-1 draw at the Prospects Stadium against another play-off contender, Canvey Island.

New signing Merrick James-Lewis gave the Gulls a 20th minute lead. But eight minutes later Tom Parkinson pulled Angels back on level terms.

Fifth-placed Leiston were held to a draw in their opening fixture of 2016 by Burgess Hill Town.

The Hillians deservedly travelled back to West Sussex with a share of the spoils when a late Pat Harding goal six minutes from time - after earlier seeing a penalty saved by Ashlee Jones - cancelled out Joe Jefford's header five minutes into the second half.

Bognor Regis Town moved level on points with sixth-placed and inactive East Thurrock United and two behind Leiston after beating struggling Needham Market 2-1 at Nyewood Lane.

Chike Kandi bagged a brace for the Rocks, opening the scoring after just four minutes and then bagging the winner five minutes from time after Michael Brothers had equalised six minutes before half-time.

Wingate & Finchley are a place and a point behind Bognor now after being held to a 1-1 draw at the Harry Abrahams Stadium by bottom-markers Lewes.

Stacey Freeman gave the Rooks a 10th minute lead they held on to until the 84th minute when Billy Healey rescued Wingate from the spot. Lewes, however, are still thirteen points adrift of the safety-mark.

But at least second-bottom VCD Athletic didn`t pull any further away from the Rooks after Ryan Mahal`s early sixth minute strike eventually earned Leatherhead all three away points.

Merstham shared a 2-2 draw with Grays Athletic at the Moatside Stadium in the only other game on Saturday.

Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson put Grays in front after only six minutes. But they led for less than two minutes as Fabio Saravia equalised. Kenny Beaney restored the visitors` advantage eight minutes after the break but Tommy Kavanagh pulled the Moatsiders level again with six minutes remaining.
