Saturday's Ryman South action review

By David Watters

Ryman League South Division

A dipping shot from Jamal Jimoh sent Walton Casuals to the top of the Ryman South table on Saturday.

Jimoh struck a minute before the break at Whiststable to secure a 1-0 win that took them three points clear of Leatherhead, who like the majority of the division's clubs, were in FA Cup First Qualifying Round action.

The Tanners, 2-1 winners in the Cup over Carshalton Athletic, still have a game in hand over the league's new leaders who scored against the run of play in the first half and were made to work for maximum points in the second.

Worthing are right behind 12th placed Worthing after their 2-1 win in one of only two other Ryman South games played. Jamie Crellin on 13 minutes and John Lansdale from the spot 10 minutes into the second half won it after Will Turl had put the visitors ahead after eight minutes.

If goals equal entertainment, then Ramsgate's 4-3 win at Tooting & Mitcham's KNK Stadium was the game of the day. It came at a cost as a first half injury to visiting defender Luke Wheatley saw the player taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.

The visitors were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to Ian Pulman after nine minutes and a James Everitt header on the stroke of half-time after the game had restarted following a 25 minute delay.

But the Terrors hauled themselves back into the game, Sol Pinnock pulling one back three minutes after the restart with a strike from the edge of the area and Frankie Sawyer equalising on 57 minutes.

Aaron Millbank, from a rebound on 74, and Everitt, his second a free-kick eight minutes from time, restored Ramsgate's two goal cushion. Jordan Cheadle, with the game's second well executed free-kick on 87 minutes, ensured the visitors were hanging on at the end.
