By David Watters

Ryman League South Division

Crawley Down Gatwick closed the gap on Ryman South leaders Walton Casuals to five points with a 2-1 win at Corinthian Casuals.

The Anvils came from behind with maximum points after Joel Thompson put the hosts ahead on 28 minutes, hitting back with goals from Trevor McCreadie with just under a quarter of an hour to go and Gary Holloway ten minutes from the end.

They took advantage after Casuals lost 1-0 at home to third-placed Hastings United, centre-back Sean Kelly grabbing the only goal of the game at the Waterside Stadium on the hour mark.

More than half the division's sides they were affected by FA Cup duty, leaving Peacehaven & Telscombe to climb into fifth spot on Saturday after their 4-2 home win over Herne Bay.

Craig Richards opened the scoring for the hosts on seven minutes, Jamie Brotherton grabbed a brace before the break and Lloyd Dawes netted their fourth three minutes from time. Ben Brown on 20 minutes and an own goal from Ash Jones after 62, reduced the deficit.

Seventh-placed Redhill were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Three Bridges while Ryman South's final fixture saw Will Turl rescue a point for Walton & Hersham against Ramsgate, his equaliser arriving eight minutes from time with the visitors seemingly on course for a narrow win thanks to Ian Pulman's 34th minute goal.
