Saturday's Ryman South action review

By David Watters

Saturday was a good day for Ryman South leaders Folkestone Invicta, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

They won 2-0 at lowly Tooting & Mitcham United and saw second and third-placed Worthing and Ramsgate cancel each other out.

Ian Draycott scored both of Invicta`s goals in the ninth and 83rd minutes at Imperial Fields, while Joe Taylor put the Rams in front on the half-hour mark at the Southwood Stadium, only for sub Lloyd Dawes to earn Worthing a point three minutes from time.

Fourth-placed Carshalton Athletic moved to within two points of Ramsgate after a 4-2 win at fourth-bottom Peacehaven & Telscombe.

It was all over bar the shouting at half-time as the Robins led 3-0 with goals from Billy Marshall, Tommy Bradford and Ricky Koba.

The hosts lost goalkeeper Dan Hutchins to a straight red card for handling outside his area in the 74th minute but Fraser Logan pulled one back for Haven two minutes later. Bradford scored his second to make it 4-1, with Logan adding a second consolation for the hosts in stoppage time.

Herne Bay complete the top five on goal difference after beating mid-table Hastings United 2-0 with goals from Joe Nelder right on half-time and then Danny Walder in injury-time.

Guernsey`s good recent run has lifted them to level on points with Bay after beating bottom-markers Whitstable Town by the same scoreline in front of 706.

Ross Allen broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the interval and Matt Loaring made sure with a second 13 minutes from time. The Oystermen are now sixteen points behind fourth-bottom Peacehaven.

Chipstead are also in danger of losing touch after their 3-2 defeat at Walton Casuals left them twelve points behind Haven.

Omar Folkes gave Casuals a 23rd minute lead that John-Prince Rylah doubled in the 43rd minute. But right on the stroke of half-time Howard Newton pulled Chips back into the game, only for Billy Dunn to make it 3-1 just six minutes into the second half. Sol Pinnock pulled another back for the visitors six minutes later, but they weren`t able to find a leveller.

Sittingbourne occupy the other relegation spot and are five points from safety after losing 2-1 at Molesey, whose Stafford Palmer gave them the lead in first half injury-time.

James McShane eventually added a second seven minutes from time, although Bourne immediately pulled that back through Billy French.

East Grinstead Town`s recent improved form continues with a 4-0 home drubbing of Walton & Hersham.

It was goalless at the break but six minutes into the second Danny Leonard gave the hosts the lead and then a Greg Cundle spot-kick on 56 minutes, Yacine Gnahore on 66 minutes and a second for Leonard three minutes later, completed a comfortable afternoon for the Wasps.

It looked like heading for a goalless draw between Three Bridges and Corinthian-Casuals until four minutes from time when the visitors had Matt Whitehead dismissed for a second bookable offence. Bridges took advantage and won it four minutes into injury-time through sub Michael Salako.

Hythe Town won the derby at Reachfields against Faversham Town with goals from Nick Reeves after 65 minutes and Alfie May 10 minutes from the end, while South Park won their Surrey derby at home with Dorking Wanderers, courtesy of Dylan Merchant after 17 minutes and Jack Macleod in injury-time.
