Saturday's Ryman South action review

By David Watters

Worthing reduced inactive Folkestone Invicta`s lead at the top of the Ryman South table to eleven points on Saturday after winning 3-0 at lowly Sittingbourne, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Lloyd Dawes proved to be the Rebels` hero on the day, bagging a brace after 31 and 72 minutes, with Omar Bugiel adding the other five minutes from time.

Third-placed Herne Bay slipped up by being held to a goalless draw by another team in the lower half, East Grinstead Town, but both Guernsey and Dorking Wanderers won to remain in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The Channel Islanders trounced Walton Casuals 6-2 in front of a crowd of 727, scoring three in each half, courtesy of a Ross Allen penalty after just three minutes, Sam Cochrane eight minutes later and Allen again on 21 minutes.

And then Glyn Dyer seven minutes after the restart, Craig Young on 62 minutes and Jacques Isabelle six minutes later. Casuals pulled two back after that – Liam Collins from the spot after 69 minutes and Gabriel Odunaike 12 minutes from time.

Dorking inflicted a 5-1 hammering on sixth-placed Faversham Town.

And the visitors led too, courtesy of George Monger`s 29tyh minute effort. Jake Beecroft on 33 minutes and Tommy Hutchings on 41 minutes saw the home side lead 2-1 at the break. And then a Tom Tolfrey brace in the 59th and 87th minutes – the second from the spot – and Dave Brown a minute from time, secured a comfortable home win.

Molesey moved up to ninth in the table after a best-of-five win at fourth-bottom Walton & Hersham.

Gareth Chendlik gave the Swans a 22nd minute lead that James McShane cancelled out from the spot after 36 minutes. Stafforde Palmer then gave the visitors a 58th minute lead that Michael Salako wiped out on 81 minutes, only for Reis Stanislaus to win it for the Moles a minute later.

Carshalton Athletic and Chatham Town shared a 1-1 War Memorial Sports Ground draw in which Mickel Miller`s 19th minute opener for the Robins was cancelled out by Luke Medley in the 35th minute.

Second-bottom Chipstead won the derby at Imperial Fields against Tooting & Mitcham United, thanks to a 21st minute Derek Tieku effort.

However, bottom side Whitstable Town suffered an embarrassing 6-1 reverse at the Belmont by mid-table South Park to leave the Oystermen 14 points from the safety-mark.

Kari Parker after 13 minutes and Kieran Lavery on 31 minutes had the visitors two-up when Town had Dean Grant sent-off after 41 minutes. Lavery quickly added his second to take South Park into the break three-up and a man up.

Jack Stafford after 63 minutes and Kofi Quartey on 76 minutes stretched South Park`s lead and, after Stuart King had netted an 80th minute consolation, Stafford made it 6-1 in stoppage time.
