Scarlett and Liburd in red

Miquel Scarlett and Rowan Liburd are new at Chatham Town

Prior to Saturday's win over Canvey Island, Chatham Town announced the signing of full back Miquel Scarlett from Dulwich Hamlet- and he made an immediate debut, which we suspect he will have enjoyed very much.

Miquel joined Hamlet in the summer, moving up from the Sunshine Coast where he had been turning out for Eastbourne Borough. He played youth and Under 21 football for both Gillingham and Colchester United, and spent a very short time with Hamlet in National League South before his move to Eastbourne. Whilst with the Gills he spent a short time on loan at Sheppey United, then in the SCEFL.

His second Hamlet spell has seen him make twelve appearances.

The club also announced the arrival of forward Rowan Liburd, who moves up from Sevenoaks Town and made a second half debut at the weekend.

Rowan joined Oaks in the summer, moving from Ramsgate, and his twenty appearances brought five goals. As a Ram, he managed nine goals- including two hat tricks- in nineteen appearances during the second half of last season. He joined the Rams after playing a massive part - he's six foot four, so massive in more ways than one- in Cheshunt's unexpected but undoubtedly deserved promotion during the 21-22 campaign. His goals included one in the Premier Semi-Final win over Bishop's Stortford, and he also got a brace at Champions Worthing and three in a thrashing of Corinthian-Casuals. He managed another four National League South goals last season before departing the Ambers.

Rowan first came to our attention when scoring goals for fun at Billlericay Town nine years ago. That got him a move to Reading, and he went on to also play professionally at Wycombe Wanderers, Stevenage and Leyton Orient. In the National League he played for Guiseley, home of the world's first Harry Ramsden's (we don't know whether he ever sampled their wares) before moving on to Hereford, Dartford and Welling United.
