Scholars are our first finalists

Potters Bar Town reach the Velocity Cup Final- with a hard-fought victory over Whitehawk. Watch- and read more- here.

Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion-chasers Whitehawk travelled to Potters Bar Town last night full of confidence and with a large and enthusiastic following in tow- and why wouldn't they be confident, given that Pitching In Isthmian Premier sides Margate, Horsham and Hastings United had already been dumped out of the competition by the Hawks this season? On this occasion, however, the higher-division opposition decided not to roll over, and Potters Bar Town accordingly became our first Velocity Cup Finalists of 22-23.

The Scholars- who defeated Billericay Town, Hullbridge Sports and Haringey Borough to reach this stage, had to weather pressure from the visitors but finally made the breakthrough themselves just before the hour, Miles Mitchell-Nelson heading home. Almost as soon as they got one they made it two, Finley Titchmarsh finding the corner of the net on sixty two minutes. In the closing stages Kris Oti got one back for the visitors, and Ashlee Jones in the Scholars goal had to make a fine save from Rob O'Toole, but that was that, and it was time for a Potters Bar party!

The Scholars will take on either Aveley or Chatham Town in the Final, to be played at Parkside on Wednesday April 5th.
