Second accolade inspires promotion hunters

Macron Performance of the Month Awards

Promotion-hunting Guernsey will surely be looking back on their debut season in the Ryman League as a success whatever happens in next week’s promotion play-offs.

While there’s still work to do for the Green Lions to follow in the footsteps of Peacehaven & Telscombe and win promotion to the Ryman’s top flight at the first attempt, a second Macron Performance of the Month Award has helped inspire Tony Vance’s fourth placed side to secure their place in next week's promotion shake-up.

The Channel Islanders were described as a ‘credit to the league’ by League Chairman and President Alan Turvey when they were presented with September’s accolade and after February’s washed out fixture programme finally collected January’s award last month before their 3-1 win at Whitstable Town.

Guernsey FC Chairman Steve Dewsnip is pictured being presented with a glass trophy to mark their stunning 11-0 win over Crawley Down Gatwick on New Year’s Day by Whitstable Town Chairman and League Director Gary Johnson at The Belmont before the islanders notched up their latest win.

The Green Lions, who've also won the Channel Islands Sports Awards’ Judges’ Achievement Award for their success on the pitch this season, were named as January’s winners alongside Thamesmead in the Ryman Premier and Wroxham in Ryman North.
