Shot of the Season: Laurie Rampling

By Ian Townsend

We asked our fabulous photographers to pick their favourite photograph of the Pitching In Isthmian campaign, and explain why it’s important to them- but on this occasion, the nomination comes from Grays supporter Michael Parker

When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?

Maldon & Tiptree v Grays Athletic, Saturday 14th January

Why is it important to you?

I would like to nominate our main photographer at Grays Athletic. I think he is too modest to enter himself but this season he  has  captured many special moments as the club has built a bond between staff, players and fans that has seen the club as unified as it ever has been since the fans took ownership. This was especially captured at Maldon & Tiptree away as Sam Bantick scored a couple of goals and celebrated with our travelling support.

Where can we find the rest of your work?

Laurie’s work can be found on the club website- here.

How and why did you begin taking photographs at football matches?

No details as this was a nomination from a supporter.

What are your hopes for the forthcoming season?

See above.

If you're a photographer who would like to send in their shot of the season, please answer the questions above and email to Ian on townsendaround@gmail.com
