Sparks hammer the Yellas

By Ian Townsend

Only one South Central match managed to survive our latest deluge, and it was a good night for South Park

South Park Reigate had gone four matches without a league victory as Ascot United came to call- the only Pitching In Isthmian South Central match to survive the weather. The Sparks had shown good form away from the league, however- winning our Performance of the Month award for a thrashing of Premier Division Bognor away from home, and falling to narrow defeat at Hereford- and they took their trophy form into the league last night, hitting the Yellas for four.

It took only two minutes for the Sparks to take the lead, Aiden Brown opening the scoring. That was that for the first half, but Deondre Date made it two nine minutes after the restart. United then got themselves back into the match, Sean McCormack pulling a goal back- but any hope of a comeback for the visitors ended when Date delivered his eighth goal of the season with eleven minutes left. Three minutes before time Marco Haigh made it four- and the Sparks climbed to eleventh.

United are fifteenth.
