Sparks to go 3G in the summer

South Park 3G plans about to take off

Pitching In Isthmian South Central side South Park announced the intention to lay a 3G pitch at their Whitehall Lane stadium a few years ago now, and it finally seems that all their hard work is about to pay off.

Last week the club made a statement on the matter (which we've only just noticed!), which explains that they now have the funding and the work is expected to be carried out over the summer.

The statement, released on social media, is as follows:

'South Park FC are pleased to confirm that funding for the conversion of our main pitch to a 3G surface is now in place. Discussions are ongoing with the Football Foundation and our contractors SIS UK Ltd with a view to work starting in early May with completion in time for the start of the 2022/23 season.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project for their hard work. A further update will be issued in due course.'

Congratulations to all at the club. It seems their first team, who are playing rather well on grass at the moment, and their twenty five youth sides (it may be more, we ran out of fingers and toes whilst counting), and their Under 23's, Youth Team, Veterans Team and A Team will all have a plush new carpet to perform on next season.
