Sunday's charity match called off

By David Watters

The Spurs Legends charity match in aid of the Brad Arthur Fund at Thurrock's Ship Lane on Sunday has been called off after a lack of advance ticket sales.

A team of former Tottenham stars were scheduled to take on a Brad's Friends XI at the Ryman North ground to raise funds for the family of the late Chafford man and his son Archie.

Organisers had hoped to raise extra funds on the day with a number of attractions led by a raffle of sports memorabilia and other prizes including an official tour of West Ham's Boleyn Ground before it is demolished.

The Rocks were informed of the cancellation on Saturday night and in a statement on Facebook, the event's organisers promised to refund supporters who'd already purchased their tickets.

It read: "As highlighted earlier this week, sales of tickets have still not increased to sufficient levels to allow this great game to take place.

"Taking this into account, we regretfully have to announce that this match has been cancelled. Arrangements are being made with Eventbrite to refund anyone who has purchased tickets."
