Swimming scout is faster than ever!

Despite being only two days short of his 69th birthday, the popular figure at Kingsmeadow raised more than £300 for good causes for the third year in a row by swimming 100 lengths of a 25 metre pool in a personal best time to finish a respectable 44th out of 1,950 swimmers in his 60-70 age group.

As always, Taylor swam in last month's Sport Relief challenge in K's colours and the club paid tribute to his efforts in an article in last Saturday's matchday programme for their 2-2 draw with Lewes.

K's spokesman Robert Wooldridge said: "Congratulations to Micky who once again has performed wonders in the swimming pool, doing an incredibly long swim recently in aid of Sport Relief."

Taylor said: "I would like to thank all the supporters and players, staff and directors and comittee members of Kingstonian for their contributions toward my swimathon for Sport Relief."

Established in 1986, Swimathon is a nationwide swimming challenge to encourage people up and down the UK to swim a variety of challenge distances while raising money for charity. Over the past 28 years of Swimathon, more than half a million swimmers have taken part, raising more than £40 million for charitable causes.

The UK’s biggest fundraising swimming event for good causes saw people taking the plunge at hundreds of pools up and down the country, including the London Aquatics Centre at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
