Wins for Carshalton and Hashtag in our Monday Night football

Hashtag United climbed to third place in Pitching In Isthmian North after a hard-fought three-one win over New Salamis at the Len Salmon.

The Tags, who came into the match with an almost perfect home record- only xx have escaped with a point- went ahead on twelve minutes, Max Cornhill sweeping home a pass from Toby Aromolaran. They weren't ahead for long, however, as Salamis- who had taken ten points from their previous twelve- quickly equalised, a long distance Taufee Skandari effort squeezing home.

Two minutes later Cornhill restored home advantage- his sixth goal in his last six matches- this one with his head, and the hosts held on to that lead until, five minutes from time. At that point they extended their advantage from the spot, with Greg Halford sending the keeper the wrong way.

In the Velocity Trophy, Carshalton Athletic hoped to bounce back from their defeat against Enfield Town at the weekend as they welcomed South Park to Colston Avenue. They succeeded in that aim despite ending the match with ten men, knocking out their South Central opponents with a hat trick from Aaron Smith-Joseph doing most of the damage.

Smith-Joseph opened the scoring after just four minutes, putting away a pass from Tommy Bradford, but the Sparks immediately hit back through Craig McGee. Seven minutes before the break it was the visitors turn to go ahead, Aiden Brown with their second- but that was as good as it got for the Reigate side. Smith Joseph got an immediate equaliser, again after linking up with Bradford, and half time saw the sides go in level.

The Robins went down to ten men with twenty seven minutes left after Bradford added a red card to his two assists, but they weren't phased by their disadvantage, Smith-Joseph finishing his hat trick with fourteen minutes left and Martins-Barradas Joao with a fourth from the spot as we neared full time.

The Robins will host Walton & Hersham or Southall in the next round.
