Tags up to seventh with victory over ten man Blues

Hashtag United triumph as ten man Billericay suffer second successive away defeat

It turned out to be a fine long weekend for Hashtag United.

After defeating FA Cup heroes Horsham in Sussex on Saturday to end a five match winless run, the Tags were back on their own Essex patch last night, hosting a local derby with promotion hopefuls Billericay Town. The travelling Blues- although, just to confuse us, they played in red- saw their title hopes hit when they conceded a last-gasp goal to lose at Folkestone Invicta on Saturday, and hoped to bounce straight back, but those hopes were undone on twenty seven minutes. An effort from the Tags Alfie Cue was saved on the line- but rather unfortunately it wasn't visiting keeper Dan Wilks doing the saving, instead it was Ryan Henshaw, and he saw red.

Cue stepped up to convert the spot kick, and the hosts took control- going two goals up shortly after the break. On this occasion it was Pedro Carvalho who did the damage, turning home a cross from Matt Wooldridge, and Blues keeper Wilks was repeatedly called into action as the half progressed. Two minutes from time the ten men caused consternation amongst the home fans- and gave hope to the travelling faithful- Moses Emmanuel hitting a fine goal from distance, but that turned out to be that, and the Tags are up to seventh, three places and four points behind their visitors, who now find themselves twelve points behind leaders Hornchurch having played the same number of games.

Still, there's only a third of the season gone- plenty of time for everything to change.
