The South Division match of the day* takes place at the Dripping Pan this afternoon, as second place Lewes entertain fifth place Greenwich Borough- but the hosting Community Football Club will have more on their minds than just three points, and they'd like you to bring more than just your voices. Today they'd also like you to bring your shopping!
It's estimated approximately 14 million people in the UK currently live in poverty. Food Banks are critical service for people simply to survive, and Lewes CFC are supporting a local community food bank with a collection for the needy- a collection which will take place not only at today's match but at tomorrow's Women's FA Cup 5th Round tie with Everton.
In particular, the food bank would welcome donations by supporters of the following items (more urgently needed in bold):
- Rice/pasta/noodles/couscous
- Tinned veg - potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, etc
- Baked beans, tinned spaghetti
- Tinned meat - meatballs, curry, chilli con carne, corned beef etc
- Tinned fish - tuna, salmon, mackerel etc
- Tinned soup
- Pasta sauces
- Cereal
- Long life milk
- Cereal bars/fruit bars
- Tinned fruit, custard, rice pudding
