Thompson back in Brightlingsea

East Thurrock defender returns whence he came

Brightlingsea Regent have announced that Jake Thompson has returned to the club from East Thurrock United.

Jake, who first joined Regent in January 2020 just before the world fell apart, has only been with the Rocks since November. He managed ten appearances with the club, and indeed scored two goals in the last one- the seven-nil win over Romford in the Velocity Trophy last week. Even though he was at Rookery Hill for such a short time, he still managed to play against Regent twice, in a County Cup win and a League defeat.

Regent originally signed Jake from Witham Town, where he made thirty three appearances during the 2019-20 campaign after moving across from Braintree Town. He was converted to central defence by the then Town manager Marc Benterman- before arriving at the club he was known as a midfielder.

He managed sixteen Regent appearances this season before his departure, and five before the 2019-20 season came to a crashing halt.
