Thursday's Ryman South action review

By David Watters

Sixth-placed Hythe Town met fifth-placed Hastings United in Ryman South on Thursday night and they were still in the same positions by the end of proceedings, despite the visitors finishing with only nine-men, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Alfie May`s 15th goal of the season gave hosts Hythe a 26th minute lead at Reachfields with a lovely curling effort. Billy Medlock eventually equalised just past the hour-mark from a free-kick 20 yards from goal and via the aid of a deflection.

But Hastings had Simon Johnson and Medlock dismissed within seconds of each other with still 15 minutes remaining – both for second bookable offences.

Despite the double blow, the visitors managed to hold on to record what could prove to be a very important point come April.
