Last week we had messages from our Archivist, Richard Lambert, and former Surrey County FA CEO Ray Ward.
Ray's partner's grandfather was Sidney Donaldson, who was heavily involved in football for around fifty years, eventually becoming the Chairman and later President of our very own Isthmian League. Sidney is in both of these photographs, the image above showing him in the centre, that below showing him cutting a ribbon at- perhaps- a new ground, which we suspect is in Kent.
Could anyone identify the ground he is opening and/or any of the people in the photos? Richard surmises that the pictures were probably taken in the fifties, due largely to Donaldson's age at the time (born in 1890). He passed away in 1968 at the age of 77.
Sidney Donaldson opening...where, and with whom?!
Please drop Ian an email if you have any information and he will pass it on.
Thanks for all of your help.
