Tuesday's Ryman North action review

AFC Sudbury bounced back and increased their lead at the top of the Ryman North table with a 3-0 victory over Tilbury on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

And with other results going in their favour, Sudbury opened up an eight-point lead.

All the goals came in the second half as the Dockers succumbed to the Sudbury pressure. The goalscorers were George Clarke, who made the breakthrough after 69 minutes, Liam Wales on 82 minutes and then Ryan Henshaw two minutes from time.

The second and third-placed teams both dropped points.

AFC Hornchurch were held to a 1-1 draw at the Wallace Binder Group Stadium by mid-table Maldon & Tiptree.

It was the Urchins though who finally broke the deadlock after 74 minutes through Alex Bentley. But sub Nnamdi Nwachuku pulled the Jammers back on level terms with five minutes remaining.

Third-placed Thurrock were beaten 2-1 at Ship Lane by a Harlow Town side who are now fourth.

An early seventh minute own goal by Thurrock`s Lewis Clark gave the Hawks a lead they doubled five minutes before the break through Alex Read. Ronnie Winn reduced the deficit 11 minutes into the second half, but they were unable to find a leveller.

Brightlingsea Regent moved to within three points of the play-off places after a comfortable 4-0 home win over struggling Witham Town.

It was goalless at the break, but immediately after the restart, Phil Kelly gave the home side the lead.

Russell Malton added a second on 57 minutes and just three minutes later it was game over as Jake Clowsley made it 3-0. Jake Turner scored a fourth with 20 minutes remaining.

Heybridge Swifts moved six points clear of the drop zone after beating another of the strugglers, Wroxham, 1-0 at Scraley Road, courtesy of an early sixth minute Tyrone Scarlett effort.

And third-bottom Redbridge went down to a 4-1 defeat at Ram Meadow to ninth-placed Bury Town.

However, it was 1-1 with Charlie Portway`s eighth minute opener for the visitors` being cancelled out by Ollie Hughes in the 36th minute when the Motormen had Charlie Parish sent-off in the 65th minute.

They held out until three minutes from time when Josh Mayhew gave the Blues the lead and they then scored two more in the final seconds, sub Nick Ingram and Mayhew again sinking the ten-men.
