Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Bognor Regis Town moved to second place in the Ryman League's Premier Division on Tuesday night and within two points of leaders Dulwich Hamlet after a late 1-0 win at Brentwood Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Ollie Pearce popped up with the Rocks` winner with less than six minutes to go of normal time at The Arena.

Bognor moved above Leiston, who suffered a first ever defeat at the Harry Abrahams Stadium against Wingate & Finchley, also 1-0. On a difficult, blustery evening, the all-important goal came on 20 minutes from Alfie Bartrum.

VCD Athletic finally won their first game of the season at the twentieth attempt.

The second-bottom Vickers beat the team immediately above them in the table, Farnborough, with goals from Richie Graham after 22 minutes and Donovan Simmonds in the 35th minute.

Bogdan Vastsuk eventually pulled one back for Boro but it came in the 81st minute as the hosts held out to finally celebrate that winning feeling.

Lewes are now bottom of the pile after losing to an 88th minute Nathan Elder effort at Longmead against Tonbridge Angels, who are now seventh, just a point behind the top five.

Fourth-bottom Needham Market enjoyed a vital 2-1 win at Rookery Hill against mid-table East Thurrock United.

Michael Brothers crucially swooped to put the visitors` ahead right on the stroke of half-time before Harry Honesty equalised 11 minutes into the second half. But an injury-time own goal from defender Ashley Miller earned Mark Morsley`s side the spoils to leave the Marketmen level on points with fifth-bottom Brentwood.
