Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

East Thurrock United consolidated third place in the Ryman Premier on Tuesday night thanks to a comprehensive 4-0 home win over Canvey Island, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Gulls have a dreadful record at Rookery Hill and they fell behind after 10 minutes to top scorer Sam Higgins` 23rd goal of the season. He made it 2-0 and goal number 24 in the 25th minute to double the Rocks` advantage.

Canvey had the opportunity to pull a goal back on 32 minutes when Jay Curran was tripped by Jimmy Nottage inside the area. But Curran`s effort was saved by Lucas Lidakevicius.

Aaron Morgan made the points safe 12 minutes after half-time before Higgins completed his hat-trick with 17 minutes to go to confirm the victory.
