Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

There were only two matches in the Ryman Premier on Tuesday night but both had significance at the bottom end of the table, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Staines Town`s 3-1 win over Metropolitan Police at Wheatsheaf Park gives Johnson Hippolyte`s new side an eight-point cushion over now third-bottom Brentwood Town, who also won on the night.

Pat Cox gave the Swans the boost of an early seventh minute lead. But Leon Smith equalised on 34 minutes to take the teams into the break all-square.

De Reece Vanderhyde restored Staines` lead with 66 minutes gone on the clock and then Tyrell Miller-Rodney made sure with a third with 10 minutes remaining.

At The Arena, Brentwood`s 2-1 win over Harrow Borough lifted the Essex side above Farnborough and leaves the visitors looking over their shoulders at the drop zone, just a point in front of Staines.

Robbie Rees bagged a brace for Town in the 23rd and 54th minutes. Lewis Driver replied for Boro but not until the very last minute of the game.
