Urchins bag Braintree in live cup draw

Ryman Premier AFC Hornchurch are set to host Conference Premier Braintree Town in the semi-finals of the Essex Senior Cup.

Thursday afternoon's draw was broadcast live on BBC Radio Essex at 4.30pm with the Urchins rewarded for their 1-0 quarter-final win over League Two Dagenham & Redbridge at Bridge Avenue on Tuesday night, pictured.

Ryman North Thurrock will host Conference South Concord Rangers in the other semi-final of the 123-year-old competition if they can overcome League One Colchester United in their weather delayed quarter-final at Layer Road on Monday (January 20).

Concord went through to the last four before Christmas with a 4-0 win over another Ryman Premier side, local rivals Canvey Island. The Iron booked their passage on Tuesday night when they came from behind at the Amlin Stadium to beat Ryman North Harlow 3-1.

The dates for the ties have yet to be confirmed but must be played by 22 February.
