Wingate give Cray the blues, whilst Dockers keep the sequence going

Cray Wanderers came into last night's match with Wingate and Finchley with three new players and on a run of six straight defeats. They managed three goals last night, but that string of defeats is now up to seven, as visitors Wingate and Finchley hit five!

The Blues- who, to confuse us, played in red- hadn't managed to defeat Wands during their last seven attempts, but when Liam Smith put them ahead last night must have thought their luck was in. Their confidence won't have been dampened very much by Anthony Cook's thirty ninth minute equaliser, and with good reason, as in an eight minute period after the break they got goals two, three and four- Sam Hatton, Bilal Sayoud and Dominic Sadi surely making the points safe.

Not as safe as they may have thought, as Adam Coombes made it two-four in the sixty ninth minute and then Cook once more, this time from the spot, make it three-four with twelve minutes remaining. Two minutes from time, however, Jabir Laraba made it five.

That result sees Wingate & Finchley up to thirteenth- and they are now joint third in our Pitching In Isthmian Premier scorers list on sixteen, only Lewes and Kingstonian have scored more.

In the North Division, Romford hosted Tilbury. The last eight meetings between the sides had seen four wins each- and they have run in sequence, meaning that last night was the Dockers turn. Although it took them until a minute before the end they took the change to claim victory.

Romford had lost four of their last five matches coming into this one, but they went ahead last night, L'heureux Menga opening the scoring eleven minutes before the break. They stayed ahead until twelve minutes from time, Lewis Smith equalising from the spot, and it looked like a first draw between the two in nine matches until Lee Noble got the winner right at the end. Tilbury end the day in fourteenth, Romford in seventeenth.
