Wolves and Ware share the spoils- again- whilst it's a late, late show for Faversham

By Ian Townsend

A brief round up of the action from last night's fixtures

On Sunday FC Romania and Ware met in the FA Cup, sharing six goals- five of them in a frantic last half hour. It should have been expected, then, that last night's reprise- this time in the League- would be a far more sedate affair. Well there were fewer goals- only two this time- but there was certainly enough action to keep the fans at Wodson Park entertained.

It didn't start well for the visiting Wolves. Only nine minutes had gone before Felix Lupu had seen red for violent conduct, and twelve minutes later the visitors were behind, Tom Bruno finding the net from all of twenty five yards. That might have been the cue for Ware to run riot, but this season's FC Romania are made of stern stuff, and they not only held out with ten men but actually drew level, Gabriel Ghinea getting the equaliser just after the hour.

The clubs now get a week away from each other, before they arrive back at Wodson Park for the FA Cup replay next Tuesday night- a home tie with Leiston the reward.

In the South East Division Faversham Town, still looking for their first victory of the season, entertained a Hythe Town side looking to bounce back from their FA Cup thrashing at Cray Wanderers on Sunday. For eighty-nine minutes neither side could find a breakthrough, and then Town got that first win, courtesy of a last-gasp goal from Makhosini Khanye. Faversham leapfrog their visitors, rising to twelfth place. Even the support of England cricketer Joe Denly, fresh from that half century against the Aussies on Sunday, couldn't inspire Hythe- managed by Joe's brother Sam- to success.

Hythe entertain Whitehawk on Saturday, whilst Faversham travel to Chichester City.
