Woods make it seven in a row, whilst Sports hit Sparks for four

By Ian Townsend

Out top match was a drab goalless draw, but Northwood’s magnificent away record and a thumping Bedfont win made up for it. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up.

We had only three matches survive the elements, but one of them was a top five battle between Chertsey Town and Basingstoke Town. It promised much, it delivered… well, not so much, with no goals and both sides having to be satisfied with a point each.

Bedfont Sports believe they can break into the top five and get themselves involved in the end of season lottery, and after making it eight games unbeaten there’s no reason to think they are wrong. They went level on points with fifth place Hanwell Town with a first half battering of South Park, a couple from Darryl Sanders, one from Jordan Espirit and one from Dan Williams making it four-nil at the break. That was eighteen for the season for Sanders, and we had a second half with no more goals, but the first half had given us enough.

Northwood travelled to Sutton Common Rovers with a club record six consecutive away wins under their belts, and they were quickly ahead in this one, Keagan Cole opening the scoring after just seven minutes. They were ahead for less than ten minutes before Yao Aziamale equalised for the hosts, but were soon ahead once more when Josh Helmore continued his remarkable scoring record since his arrival from Binfield, his eighth in eleven matches. That remarkable seven away wins in a row- and eight games unbeaten- has seen Woods climb to ninth.
