Bouncing bosses in the spotlight

Ryman Round-up Show

Chipstead manager Steve Baker has the chance to explain the impact he’s had on the Ryman South leaders since taking over midway through last season on Thursday night’s Ryman Round-up Show.

Baker, pictured, succeeded Kevin Rayner at the High Road in November with the club languishing in the relegation places but is sitting pretty at the top of the table with a game in hand after the club's weather related postponement on Bank Holiday Monday at Whyteleafe.

He’ll be joined on the line by two other managers who must be happy with the starts their sides have made to the new season, at least for now, in Waltham Abbey's Paul Wickenden and South Park boss Joe McElligott.

After struggling last term, the Abbotts are now a top half side with three wins from five outings while South Park, one of the Ryman League’s newboys, are also flying in ninth spot with three wins under McElligott who led the Surrey club to the Combined Counties League title in May.

The managers are joined on the weekly phone-in debate for the Ryman League's fans, players and officials by sports writer Matt Abbott from the Thurrock Gazette and Nick Bowler from Radio Norfolk.

Launched at the start of last season by Harlow-based online community station Hawks Radio, the show broadcasts from 7pm to 10pm every week with presenter David Square back in the studio hot-seat for the second season running hosting the debate on the latest Ryman League news and action.

Like all of last season's shows, every episode is also podcasted for anyone who can't tune in live. To listen live to the show visit: www.hawksradio.co.uk and to air your views on the phone-in call 01279 899150. Alternatively, email your comments direct to the studio at: ryman@hawksradio.co.uk.
