Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

The top five in the Ryman Premier were all in action on Tuesday night – and all bar one were victorious, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Leaders Dulwich Hamlet are top on goal difference from East Thurrock United after they completed a 3-1 win at Wheatsheaf Park against a now relegation-threatened Staines Town.

Two goals in two minutes midway through the first half, courtesy of a Joe O`Cearull own goal and an Ashley Carew penalty, gave Hamlet a half-time cushion. Michael Campbell reduced the arrears three minutes after the break but an 84th minute Ryan Moss effort completed Hamlet`s victory.

East Thurrock won 5-2 at Earlsmead against lower mid-table Harrow Borough.

Another hat-trick from top scorer Sam Higgins, taking his total to 22 for the season to date, helped the Rocks to victory.

He gave his side a 13th minute lead that Boro turned round with goals from David Taylor after 31 minutes and Lewis Driver three minutes later. But immediately after half-time a second for Higgins and then Joe Ellul made it 3-2.

Tom Wraight added a fourth in the 76th minute, with Higgins completing his hat-trick four minutes from time.

Third-placed Hampton & Richmond Borough hammered another nail into Farnborough`s relegation-threatened coffin after a 3-1 Beveree win.

Nicke Kabamaba from the spot after 17 minutes gave the Beavers the lead. But it wasn`t until the final quarter that they got on top of the game again, goals from Brendan Kiernan and Kabamba again sealing the win after Freddie Grant had equalised on 73 minutes.

After successive back to back wins, Leiston slipped to defeat at Nyewood Lane against fourth-placed Bognor Regis Town.

A difficult evening saw the Blues trailing by goals from Alfie Rutherford after 19 minutes and Snorre Nilsen on 37 minutes at the interval. And then for the second successive midweek fixture, Leiston were reduced to ten-men in the second half when Patrick Brothers was dismissed in the 81st minute.

Bognor took advantage, adding a third goal from top scorer Jason Prior in injury-time as the Blues slipped out of the play-off positions into sixth.

Tonbridge Angels moved back into the top five after a comprehensive 4-0 Longmead win over mid-table Leatherhead.

In one of the Angels` best performances of the season to date, Bradley Woods-Garness gave them a 21st minute lead. And then Nathan Elder on 79 minutes made sure of the win, adding icing on the cake with a Luke Blewden brace in the final four minutes.

Tuesday`s other game saw Billericay Town stay above Grays Athletic in eighth place after a 1-1 draw at New Lodge.

Sean Cronin gave the visitors a 15th minute lead that Conor Hubble cancelled out in the 52nd minute.
