A County Cup Round Up

Sometimes, keeping up with the plethora of County Cup competitions is rather difficult, but we’ve been taking a look at the various County FA websites and we think that this is the current state of play! It’s been an incredibly successful year for Pitching In Isthmian sides.

Sussex

We’re going to have at least one Pitching In Isthmian representatives in the Final of the Sussex Senior Cup, after Bognor Regis Town defeated Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties after a one-one draw on Tuesday night. The other Semi-Final takes place next week (26th), and is between Hastings United and Worthing, held at the FA’s home of Culver Road- also the home of our very own Lancing FC.

The Final is scheduled to be held next month at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium, but doesn’t yet have a date.

Kent

The Kent Senior Cup Final will be an all-Isthmian affair, as Margate take on Chatham Town. Gate defeated Ramsgate in the Semi-Final earlier this week, whilst Pitching In isthmian South East champions Chatham Town overcame the challenge of Welling United. The Final is due to be played at Gillingham FC on Wednesday May 3rd.

Hampshire

The Hampshire Senior Cup Final will be contested by our very own Basingstoke Town, who hit Aldershot Town for five earlier this week. Their opponents will be Premier League side Bournemouth, and the match will be held at Fratton Park- home of Portsmouth- on Wednesday 10th May.

Essex

Bowers and Pitsea took on Grays Athletic in the Essex Thames-Side Trophy Final last night, and Bowers came away with victory despite playing with a midfielder in goal for eighty minutes! The match ended three-two, and we suspect our image is from Nashy Photo but is taken from the club’s social media.

The Senior County Cup competition saw Hornchurch reach the Semi-Final, but we had no representatives in the final.

Berks & Bucks

Our very own Marlow will feature in the Final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup, where they will take on Bracknell Town. Marlow defeated Reading on penalties in the Semi-Final after a two-two draw, and the match will be played at Ascot United FC on May 9th.

Middlesex

Another of our Pitching In Isthmian South Central sides, Northwood, will grace the Final of the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup, but delays in that competition mean we don’t know who they will face or when/where the final will be (or if anyone does, it isn’t yet on the FA Website!). The other finalists will either be Hanwell Town, Broadfields United or North Greenford United.

Suffolk

Stowmarket Town faced Bury Town in the Semi-Final of the Suffolk Premier Cup last night, and Stow triumphed by three goals to nil.

They will take on Needham Market in the Final, but we await details of that.

Norfolk

The Norfolk Senior Cup Final on May 18th will feature our very own Gorleston, who will take on one of our former clubs, Dereham Town, at Carrow Road- home of Norwich City. The Greens have had a fine run to the Final, and defeated Mulbarton Wanderers in the semi-Final earlier this month.

London

Our very own Haringey Borough will participate in the London Senior Cup Final, defeating another of our clubs, Wingate & Finchley, to reach the showpiece. Borough will face either Leyton Orient Under 23’s or Hendon, who play their Semi-Final next week. We don’t yet have a date nor location for the Final.
