A crucial night at both ends

By Ian Townsend

The Millers hope to return to the summit- whilst the Wasps look to secure their safety

Cray Valley PM play their game in hand over leaders Ramsgate as they head to the seaside this evening, knowing that victory would give them a three point lead at the top- with only one match left to play. The Millers travel to Hythe Town, and remain unbeaten on the road- indeed, they have won all but one of their matches away from the Artic Stadium- whilst their hosts have lost their last ten matches. It will be a rather unusual feeling for Ramsgate fans, who will have to support one of their local rivals for ninety minutes, but a Cray Valley victory would mean that the Millers would only have to avoid defeat at Horndean on Saturday to confirm promotion, so the Rams will have to bite their lips and shout for the Cannons! History is certainly on the side of tonight’s visitors, who haven’t been defeated by Hythe in their last six meetings.

At the other end of the table, third bottom East Grinstead Town welcome twelfth place Horndean, the Wasps aware that victory would see them safe from relegation- and confirm a downward departure for Beckenham Town. The Wasps are two points clear of Becks as they play their game in hand over their relegation rivals, but face an in-form Sheppey United on Saturday, whilst Becks, who have suddenly found form, travel to take on a Burgess Hill Town side who are struggling at present. Fans from Beckenham will be desperate for the Deans to do them a favour- but East Grinstead have their fate in their own hands.

The match at East Court kicks off at 7.30 PM.
